Every conversation, every game, every story and every routine helps build language, thinking and understanding. These everyday interactions shape the foundations for future learning.

That's why the Basic Concepts Foundation is proud to begin an 11-week collaborative pilot with Ikamva Labantu, exploring how a Mediated Learning Framework for Early Learning can strengthen these moments across Early Childhood Development settings.

Rather than introducing a new curriculum, this pilot is designed to build on the excellent work already taking place in more than 300 ECD centres.

Through collaboration, shared learning and continuous reflection, we'll explore how intentional mediation can further support children's language, thinking and concept development from the earliest years.

This is the beginning of a shared learning journey with the potential to strengthen early learning and create brighter futures for young children.
